Across the face and body, fine markings, fractured patterns and dark traces interrupt the portrait. At first they read almost as texture. Gradually, the human presence becomes clearer beneath them — composed, distant and quietly confrontational.

The muted palette of charcoal, ash and weathered earth gives the work an archaeological quality, as though the image has been uncovered rather than created.
