ASH IV turns away. The figure is seen across the shoulder, surrounded by darkness and marked by broad, irregular traces that move across the back and neck.
Recognition comes slowly. The composition initially feels almost abstract — a sequence of curved forms, shadow and weathered pigment. Then the profile emerges, introducing a quiet human presence without breaking the work’s restraint.

The near-monochrome palette gives ASH IV an especially architectural quality, making light, silhouette and surface more important than colour.
