Some forms are defined by what separates them.
The Inner Divide gathers around a narrow central line—dark, fractured and almost absorbed beneath scratches, erosion and burnt metallic tones.
The Inner Divide begins in darkness.
Black, charcoal and deep brown dominate the surface, crossed by dense scratches and muted copper tones that seem embedded within the material.
Two curved forms gather around a narrow vertical divide, creating a composition that feels both balanced and fractured.
At first, it reads as structure alone.
The central line may appear architectural—a seam, a split or the remains of something pressed into the surface.
Gradually, the surrounding contours begin to reveal a more familiar organic form:
a coffee bean, enlarged and partially erased beneath the distressed layers.
Its characteristic central groove becomes the defining tension of the work.
What divides the form also holds it together, turning an everyday object into something darker, quieter and less immediately recognisable.
